What was frustrating me was the sheer output of units - I literally know of know way for a player to come close to that level of unit production, and even with production bonuses I still am skeptical that it was not cheating somehow. Yes, China had the most crazy good defensive position, probably one of the best I have seen on a capital. There was no way to get the warriors through to actually take it, so had to use a galley. Probably at least 100 turns to wear down the city, with Quadquireme outside it, one catapault bombarding it, and a whole bunch of units to screen the catapault from the horseman spam. It reminds me of the way barbarians spawn units. Horsemen are expensive, they really hurt, and it beggars belief that they can somehow produce one every 3 turns like clockwork. Either it has over 8x my best city's production (highly unlikely), or it somehow is sitting on a pile of 1000s of gold (which I know it isn't because I have checked how much it can give me). The AI is CLEARLY breaking the rules here. It is possible that it is buying it, but its income is 51 gold per turn, which should take something like 32 turns to save up enough to buy just one, let alone one every 3 turns. To put it in perspective, it would take me something like 25 turns to build one. The problem is, China is building a horseman in their capital every 3 turns on marathon speed. Normally that would be slow but fine, if not for the problem. Unfortuately their capital is wedged in between mountains and sea, so only 2 max of my units can attack at once. It is the classical era, I have about 7 archers, 1 galley, 1 (remaining) warrior, and 1 catapaut camped outside their capital. I am in a long war against China since I wanted to try protect a city state between us (failed - they just swamped it) adn I was like 'fine, I am going to keep going til I get your cities' vs China. What I was not prepared for was a clearly rule-breaking mechanic I have never seen before in dozens of Deity games I have played (and mostly won) in the past. I am aware that the AI gets huge bonuses to troops and settlers, and large yield bonuses on Deity.
